The new attraction in Interlaken: A captivating balloon ride in the centre of Interlaken - unique in Switzerland.

With the tethered balloon, Interlaken will be richer with a new attraction. The "Soft Adventure" product not only extends Interlaken's diverse leisure and tourism offer, but also broadens Outdoor Interlaken^s portfolio.

The captivating balloon, which is unique in Switzerland, offers visitors a breath-taking view of lakes Thun and Brienz, some of the landmarks of Interlaken, the Höhenmatte and Harder Kulm, as well as the backbone of the Alps with the Jungfrau mountain panorama. The balloon is filled with non-flammable, non-explosive helium, rises to a height of 150 meters on a steel cable and is brought back to the ground by an electric winch. The duration of the flight is approximately 20-25 minutes and operates all year. The passenger gondola can accommodate up to 30 passengers and also caters for wheelchair access. Depending on the weather, the balloon will operate about 200 days per year and is manned with a pilot and special trained personnel.

The vision of the site is to create an oasis of tranquillity embedded within nature. Accordingly, the entire balloon area is designed with lots of green and wood.

The operation of the tethered balloon is scheduled in late Autumn 2017 and will depend on the release of construction permission by the authorities.  The site is based at the Des Alpes Area, which is one of the prime locations in Interlaken and is in walking distance to the main shopping mile, the ‘famous’ Höheweg.
